He Wears A Tie!

If we want to take our program to the next level we need to find three things in our next head coach. They are not easy to find but we don’t have to travel too far from home to find them.

First, we need a guy that has some head coaching experience. It can be at the D-I or D-II level but he has to have done this before. Coaching at a big time program is a plus.

Second, we need a guy that has connections or can easily establish them in the hotbeds of high school football. This means being able to assemble an all-star cast of assistants that can recruit anywhere in the US not just Florida.

Finally, we need someone who looks sharp on the sidelines and not one that resembles Scut Farkus from A Christmas Story. No I’m not fruity but having a good looking fella as your head coach really helps. It is an added plus if he wears a tie. If we do hire a coach that wears a tie, I will wear one to the games.

There is only one person that possesses those three things. TERRY BOWDEN is the man for the job and he wears a tie on the sidelines.

Alright, I geared those three categories towards my favorite. Terry Bowden is the coach I want to see strolling the sidelines at Mountaineer Field next season. He is a proven winner in the toughest conference in the country. Bowden has a name that still holds some weight in college football and from his comments today on Sirius it appears those who don’t know his name will know his assistants. HE WEARS A TIE!

  1. I’m with you. I’m a Bowden supporter too.

  2. Terry Bowden would definitely add some excitement to our upcoming series with Auburn and Florida State (provided Dad is still there). And he wants it sooooo bad. How can you NOT like that enthusiasm?

  3. Terry was a skinny guy on the Auburn sidelines, but he is a fourth mealer.

But, I think he can assemble a world class coaching krew. He would have to have Trickett, and I wish, Doc on the sideline with him.

That would be three big time guys.

  4. Bowden has connections or can easily establish them in the hotbeds of high school football? He hasn’t had a reason to talk to a high school football coach since he left Auburn, unless it had something to do with his daughter.

Mike Nolan wears a tie on the sideline for the 49ers. How’s that working out for them?

  5. Does it not disturb anyone that Bowden ran out on Auburn in the middle of the season THE NIGHT BEFORE A GAME? Doesn’t that sound a little too close to RRod’s treachery? Bowden can compare himself to Dick Vermeil all he wants but I’m not buying it.

  6. When Nehlen left I was right there with you. However, the guy hasn’t coached in almost ten years. That concerns me. The game has changed. I know he’s kept up with the changes that we all see via his ESPN work, but what concerns me is what else has happened behind the scenes in those 10 years that he’s missed out on. He makes me a bit nervous, truth be told.

  7. Let me ask the Bowden supporters one question, take away his last name and do you really still want him?

  8. The next coach is not going to be Terry Bowden. You can take that to the bank.

  9. P.S. 5th Year Senior wearing a tie at football games is the LAST thing Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium needs.

  10. As an Auburn alum who attended Auburn during some of the TB years all I can say is good luck. He took the best running back in the SEC, and a preseason All American, in Stephen Davis and he barely got 1000 yards on the season because TB had to have a passing offense like his dad’s. Enjoy that first season with him because good guys like White and Slaton will be gone and your roster will be full of thugs and criminals.

  11. […] 5th Year Senior is definitively on Bowden’s side — mostly because of his style of dress — I find this latest push mostly annoying and very Arkansas-esque. Regardless of what I think […]

  12. BringOn, if you take away his last name he is still 47-16-1 in the SEC. Fraudriguez was 60-26 after lucking into three of the greatest players in Mountaineer history.

His name can establish the connections and so will his assistants. Experience over recruiting any day of the week. We don’t want our own Wanstache…

  15. honestly, how hard would it be to call the 7 plays that rich rod did this year. why not bring in a guy with experience (bowden) that can steer the ship and then establish his own legacy. only a few guys can stop the bleeding at this point and it seems bowden is the only one in reach ($). yeah, a few other candidates may be adequate, but this isn’t only about what they might turn into. this is also about national perception and the alternatives are not going to cut it. plus, bowden can pull a bush and hire other guys to do the details of the job for him. i think we all realized this year that national perception means more than it should and it definitely should be a consideration right now.

  16. If he (Bowden) is so good, or could assemble staff and recruits, then why has he not been hired, since he supposedly has been trying to get back in for 2 years? Let us not just hire a name.
