Actually, we’re surprised this picture even exists.
In the latest, greatest, and possibly most twisted turn of events in the Rich Rodriguez saga, the former Mountaineer coach is accused of either stealing or destroying (or both) all files in existence related to both current roster players and the last seven years of the program. In other words, a dick move.
Seriously, every single file is gone. Don’t believe me?
“It’s unbelievable. Everything is gone, like it never existed,’’ said a source within the athletic department, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “Good, bad or indifferent, we don’t have a record of anything that has happened.’’
To be perfectly honest with you, not even I thought Rodriguez had this in him. Going beyond the initial “WTF” reaction, he’s probably broken any number of state laws. I have half-a-mind to try to get him indicted on war crimes, but that Geneva Convention is always a crapshoot.
But it gets better.
According to the source, the files in Rodriguez’s office that are now missing included everything from records regarding summer camps — financial and otherwise — to data on boosters, recruiting and most everything related to activities within the program during Rodriguez’s seven years at WVU.
Most disturbing, though, is the absence of all of the players’ personal files, which included, among other things, contact information, scholarship money awarded, class attendance records and records on personal conduct and community service, be it positive or negative.
“If a player spoke to a school or did public service, we don’t have a record of it,’’ said the source. “If he broke a rule or missed class, we don’t have a record of that, either. We don’t have anything. All the good things these kids have done over the years, there’s nothing — not a picture of somebody speaking to a class, nothing. Why would somebody do that?’’
At press time, due to Rodriguez’s Enron-like efficiency, WVU officials are unsure if Rodriguez was even the coach for the past seven years.

Depending on when the files were taken or shredded by ARR or eaten by Rutledge the most damning thing could be that ARR was tampering with evidence.
I’m no legal expert but I did drink my way through three years of law school so that was the first thing that popped into my head. I know we have some other lawyers that frequent the site so what are your thoughts on the matter?
Rutledge taught the best class of my undergraduate career. The only thing separating it from a Jim Harrick, Jr. class was “How many points is a 3-pointer worth?”

First I’d like to thank Double Agent ARR for defecting and bringing me to my now favorite website. Great info and posts. I actually heard some of the Athletic Dept. members complaining about this in the bathroom line at Saturday’s basketball beatdown but wasn’t sure what they were discussing. I believe, “No records whatsoever and everything” were being used to the dismay of the donors within earshot.

Destroying student-athlete’s individual records just blows my mind. What a bitter, bitter man. I’ll bet his attorney this morning is having a WTF were you thinking conversation with his client.
Think he destroyed those because he was pissed at the players for losing the Pitt game?

It would be neat if we found out that his new employers at Michigan came in by the end of the week and set someone who is not Head Coach in charge of all files to protect themselves, lest RichRod gets bitter and spiteful toward their program.
Man, this guy is a complete idiot. First he uses his mom to lie about death threats, now this? What is next, puppy kicking? Using old women to weave him blankets? Kiddie porn? Who knows….

I now refer to him only as Lucifer Fraudriguez. Can you go any lower by shredding files financial and player files related to WVU? Seven years worth of documents gone? Unbelievable? What exactly was Fraudriguez trying to cover up? How bad was he trying to destroy the program? It’s one thing to lie behind WVU’s back while your the coach and persuade recruits to go to Michigan, but destroying the personal files of the players is just immoral. I really hope he gets screwed because of this. I despise this man.
I realize that today we’re hating on RR personally, and not Michigan per se, but on a side note: Do people realize how close Ann Arbor is to Detroit?
I’ve always felt a little guilty about having a so-called Japanese car, but now I’m kinda stoked about it. My Honda was assembled in Marysville, OH, which I think is about as close to Columbus (tOSU) as Ann Arbor (UM) is to Detroit.
So, on a cosmic level, that all worked out for the better.
DISCLAIMER: In the event some humorless Michigan fans or UAW officials read this, hey, it’s just a joke. Lots of my friends and relatives drive cars that came outta Detroit. Heck, my dad’s Ford actually starts up about every forth time he turns the key. So Detroit has that going for it.

Seriously, he really came back AFTER his announcement in Ann Arbor, and they let him clean out his office ALONE???? That alone makes this almost as embarrassing for us as it is for UM. Somebody will start pointing fingers soon.

I was born in WV, grew up in WV and graduated from WVU, but folks, this is the kind of ignorant mess that influences outsiders to think we are without inteligence. When organizations engage in the good old boy – cult of personality – worship the great man in charge mentality, rational and less blinded by the “I am part of this wonderful man’s organization” glow folks have no voice. If there were people involved in the organization who thought there should be safeguards in place to protect the records that are now lost, experience tells me they were afraid to speak up as they feared losing their jobs or being branded as heretics. An organization subject to such random turnover in control needs a good system of checks and balance to survive. I hope the powers that be bring in some well trained and less star struck individuals to organize the system and install safeguards.
