Will the Star at Night Be Big and Bright if Major Goes to Texas?

News out of Texas is that former Longhorns QB and current Alabama Off. Cor., Major Applewhite, is close to accepting the QB coaching position on Mack Brown’s staff.

Why does this matter, besides infuriating Alabama fans and increasing readership? It means that Star Jackson, the #11 rated, 4-star high school QB, and Alabama commit may be back in play.

Even though Jackson committed to Alabama early in the process, Major Applewhite was Jackson’s primary recruiter, and with the Major’s exit to Texas, Star may be peaking at other options.

As it happens, WVU was the only other major school that Star seriously considered before his commitment. And now, ace Mountaineer recruiter, Doc Holliday, is set to meet with Jackson on Wednesday morning, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The key to Star Jackson?

Apparently, Jackson considers himself a ‘pro-style’ quarterback, and wasn’t convinced WVU’s former coach would allow him to display all his talent. With new man, Bill Stewart, seemingly wanting a down-field passing game, perhaps Jackson just might be back in play for the Mountaineers.

And if not, it’s always fun to rile up the ‘rammer jammer yellow hammers.’

However, if WVU could somehow pull off this coup, it would rank among stealing Pat White from LSU and Pacman from Ga. Tech. And probably better. Let’s face it, Jarrett Brown will be a solid, but probably not great QB in 2009, but where is WVU after that? Bradley Starks? He’s unproven.

Stealing Star Jackson from the heart of the SEC would send a MAJOR (get it?) signal throughout the country that WVU is not going anywhere, and legitimize Bill Stewart.

And if anyone can do it, Doc Holliday can. Here’s hoping Star will be his huckleberry.

  1. who is this new poster? I dont like change.

  2. also, this would be huge, as would Coley White.

  3. Star has dropped major poundage since leaving The View. She has a long way to go to get back in football shape. I see no hope without Barwis.

  4. The View? As in Mountainview?

  5. I like this new poster. More stories are a good thing.
