Mike Brown Is A Scumbag

Apparently, the Governator was partly right about agents being to blame.  These e-mails, the AP aquired, show a continued pattern of agressive, questionable behavior of RR agent Mike Brown against WVU.

Granted, the University continues to prove it is reactive, and not proactive, in running the Athletic Dept., but Brown saying they need to “stay competetive for Rich’s services,” and that Rich could take the Texas A&M and FSU jobs if the demands weren’t met (jobs that weren’t even open at the time), is despicable.

Even Whit Babcock agrees that Mike Brown is a liar.

For his part, RR finacially advisor, Mike Wilcox, comes across as the only clear-thinking, innocent party.  According to the e-mails, Wilcox didn’t think too highly of Brown’s involvement, either.  He also warned Garrison of the trouble brewing in the RR camp Dec. 4.

Why Garrison or Pastilong didn’t talk to RR after this e-mail from Wilcox is anybody’s guess, but it’s understandable why the administration would have had enough of these games.  Threatening to take other jobs on Nov. 14th, if every demand wasn’t met?  That’s bush league.

There is also the question of why WVU wouldn’t spring for advertising on the walls, which seems like an easy money maker.   (See also, Mike Carey)  The pay-per view web site proposed by RR is ridiculous, however.  Why do you think that A&M’s job was coming open anyway?

And what about the 1100 Club money distribution?  If, in fact, RR wasn’t told the funds were going to be used for purposes other than recruiting, it’s egregious.  And shouldn’t those Club members know that their money isn’t going towards recruiting?

The Athletic Dept. might be a Mickey Mouse operation, but Mike Brown is definetely Pinocchio. (see what i did there?)

  1. If by scumbag, you mean douche bag, then yes, i agree with you.

  2. For a nanosecond I almost felt a glimmer of sympathy for MFRR. Then I remembered he left his team…those players in the biggest lurch and obviously did not care enough about the guys who had worked for him all season long. No wonder his agent’s so scummy. In Hollywood, don’t they always say get an agent who’s even scummier than you are because s/he will plunge deeper into hell on behalf of your pocketbook than you would ever being willing to openly face someone and do.

  3. I lawyer or agent or politician that walks the other side of the line? You would have thought RR would have had a more even kill agent.

  4. I wish I had a link, but I read somewhere yesterday that the 1100 club money was taken out of that account and then shortly thereafter repaid by the university. If that’s the case, I think the “misuse” of these funds is a moot point at best.

  5. To hold supposed job openings over the administration’s head for so long is akin to black-mail and I can see why they had enough of RR, Brown, and their bullshit.

  6. You are correct. The funds were taken out and replaced. They were used for other athletic expenses when the athletic department was tight on funds. I also dont believe that the borrowing of funds from the 1100 club is a big deal.

For some reason, I think giving Rodriguez total control of those funds would have been a very bad idea. With the ethics he has shown in this whole ordeal it is very likely if we gave him total control, we would be facing serious NCAA sanctions right now. If the 1100 club thing is Mike Brown’s “bombshell” then I am resting a whole lot easier right now.

  7. The only problem I have with the co-mingling of 1100 club funds and regular athletic department budget is the fact that ARR started the 1100 club.

He probably should have been told if money was going to be taken out. Don’t let the asshole have say if it can be taken out but at least inform him that they are borrowing money and are going to pay it back. It would be a shock if you were missing $200,000 in funds and had no clue where they had gone.

Just goes to show that there is a serious lack of communication within the Athletic Department. I still don’t blame Eddie P. To me this all falls on the head of Mike Parsons and his needs to roll, now.

  8. Just to make us feel better…..remember Bill Stewart’s comment at his first press conference as coach……holding up his right hand he said…….”this is my agent right here.” Big upgrade I would say……

    Nuff said.

  9. WBGV, thanks for the great update on the latest soap opera. I haven’t looked at anything since Maisel’s hit piece on WVU.

I don’t think there are many WVU faithful who believe that the Administration is blameless or efficient. Given the incompetence they’ve been accused of, I think it’s amazing they met so many of his requests so quickly!
