How many times did we shoot ourselves in the foot during that game? My guess is at least 10-15. Penalties, stupid-predictable-fan-influenced play calls, and poor tackling.
I have so many thoughts running through my head right now that I can’t get them all out to write a logical post. I know, I know whats new. Here are a few random thoughts but expect more tomorrow.

The clock management was not as bad as, I think, the announcers made it out. It was lacking but not totally incompetent.

The sideline was in disarray multiple times and that falls to the head coach.

Why wear gloves if you are not going to fasten those mother fuckers. It is not a fashion show. Use the velcro straps. Maybe it will help you grip and release the ball more cleanly.

The D stepped up but the holes in the secondary take me back to the days of Perlo Bastien. Who was the coach back then?? Steve Dunlap…

All in all, I blame the coaches. We saw poor play calling. A lack of fundamentals and discipline. And a horrible nose about when to make substitutions.

HCBS, remember when you said you will know when it is time to step aside. I would start thinking real hard about getting out of the way. The team played with heart and deserved to win the game. Hell, they almost won the damn game in spite of HCBS’s coaching. I’m not calling for your firing, YET.

Damn shame. Colorado literally gave us that game several times, wrapped up with a bow. Hawkins probably could have passed on our secondary all day but for some reason chose not to. We had so many squandered opportunities. And, I hate to say it, but CU is not a very good team in the grand scheme of things. Where does that put us? God help the Big East.
I didn’t think the defense played that bad. Our offensive playcalling was terrible, offensive coaching was terrible. WTF…..let the play clock run down at the end of the 4th quarter? A field goal and the game is over. Bill just stands there like a deer in head lights. We took one shot down the field, on a trick play to beat it all. If we are running the ball well and we were, take a freaking shot down the field and lets open that running game up like a whore at a sailor’s convention.
Everyone was so upset in January when Ken Kendrick made his comment regarding hiring the painter to build the house. Hell, I’d love to see the painter give it a try at this point. HCBS is obviousily the demoltion crew, not the painter…

I just can’t see how the program will survive this. How in the world can the players continue to respect Stewart? Anyone and everyone watching either the ECU or the UC games can see that this is one of the most disorganized, ill-preparted staffs in the country. These stupid fucks have been so worried about getting 4-stars, changing the offense terminology to suit their own needs, letting everyone play 2 sports and fawning over “these great young men” that no one has bothered to focus on WINNING THE GODDAMN GAME.
On a calmer note, I love this new motion offense. We line up, guys go in motion and… the defenses stands there. There’s a bunch of confusion (on the offensive side) and the whole stadium knows that when we’re done running around, we’re running the ball. We gave up an audible on every play in order to mill around in confusion. Congratulations, you’re a moron.
Putting Patrick White in the “I” formation is just dumb. It neutralizes your most valuable asset….spread it out on 4th down, run your freaking normal offense and let Pat get you the yard…..quarterback sneak…….and the dumb 3 and 2 call in over time……
Clock management was terrible……they blew it at the end of the first half when Colorado was going to run it out….we could have forced a punt but we were indecisive and it cost us……and then at the end of the game we were remakabley bad on clock management…..think about it…..we took time outs to the locker room in both halves and could have used them smartly…..in both halves. We really only throw the ball down field twice…..once for a completion of about 18 yards, which was immediately followed by Patrick’s touchdown run….and the second was the poorly thrown flea flicker…..which would have been an easy 6……..spread them out, throw down field enough to keep them honest and run the freaking ball.

It’s only September and we’ve been humiliated on national TV for a second time already. This team doesn’t even look like a 6 win bowl eligible team. Bill Stewart is a nice guy but he isn’t getting the job done and to be given a team this talented and mess up this bad is inexcusable. We certainly do not have much momentum going back to Morgantown to face Marshall next week. So far the Bill Stewart era has been a nightmare, someone please wake me up!

I don’t think it’s so much that Stew’s coaching is bad….it’s NONEXISTENT. He thinks he’s just the Special Teams coach who wears a headset. Why is his always walking the sideline looking at the ground? Why is he only involved with Special Teams during games and doesn’t get in the huddle with the offense or defense during TO’s? Why did we not go for it on 4th and 10 inches? 4th and 18 inches? 4th and under a yar? I could go on….
Man…he really is in over his head. He’s completely lost me.
However, the team, I thought, played much improved…the did the best with what they were told to do. I can’t blame Pat Mac…Special Teams had been spectacular all night long.
first off. I knew after the fiesta bowl that coach stewart was an emotional decision. Honestly RR did do alot for the program but was hamstrung by who I blame the most. Ed Pastilong the AD for WVU. Here’s an AD who has Filet Mignon tastes but wants to pay hamburger prices. He got a bargain with coach stewart and will be laughing all the way to the bank come bonus time. Granted RR is a pompous a** but they should have honored their promises to RR.
Like everyone I feel sorry for pat white because he is such a great player and in a way is the victim of his own talent because I believe coach stew wants him to succeed in the NFL as a QB but pat needs to have success as a passer i.e. Look at vince young and michael vick. Pat would not survive as a running qb in the nfl. Are they sacrificing the season for the sake of Pats future??? Let’s call us what we are…..A team that is rebuilding
