LSU Is Coming To Town

I cannot pronounce his name but he does find some good’ole fashion scoops. In today’s Daily Mail Jack Bogaczyk announces that WVU and LSU will play a home-and-home series for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. It is only a tentative announcement but if it comes to fruition, I can guarantee I will be at Tiger Stadium when the Mountaineers take the field.

Adding LSU is a fairly significant development and only increases the difficulty of WVU’s future schedules.  This addition gives WVU non-conference match-ups against Michigan State, Maryland, and LSU during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.  Also, there is still an open slot for the 2011 season to add a cupcake.

I love this match-up and hope we continue to add marquee games to our schedule.  GEAUX MOUNTAINEERS!!

  1. VERY exciting news!!!

  2. Thats good to hear.

  3. Isn’t Florida State on the schedule at some point too or did that fall through?

  4. FSU is on the schedule for 2012 and 2013

  5. It will be nice to have Jimbo, Clarksburg native, coaching FSU when the Seminoles come to town. They will probably have an NC by then. Regarding LSU, I am always in favor of adding ANY SEC team to the non-conference slate, and only hope that this current regime will be gone by then and we’ll be competitive again.

I have inside info. from high level Penn State booster that when JoePa retires there will be a push for Penn State to join the Big East. Said source states there is NO WAY this will be the case as long as JoePa still around. Also, Notre Dame may very well be added to the league in the not so far future, in a manner that doesn’t jeopardize their TV home game contract w/ NBC. Very interesting developments in the last 36 hours.

  6. Also, the booster stated that Penn St. fans/alumni feel they don’t have natural rival in their conference (which is a fact….their biggest rival is Michigan St and to lesser degree Ohio St) ala Eastern 8 days when their biggest rivals were Syracuse and Pitt (NOT WVU because we sucked for most part, although PSU was big rival TO US)…..One thing is for certain, there is some talking going on from the Big East commish and don’t be surprised if he detonates a loud “parting shot” prior to his departure.

  7. If ND joins a conference in football it will be one of the biggest moments in college football history. I seriously doubt this will ever happen.

  8. Thanks for the heads up

  9. I believe the original article says that we are trying to get LSU to fill the void left by Michigan State who wants to move our series to 2014 and 2015. Therefore, we wouldn’t play them both in 2010 and 2011.

  10. I’ve read that but it seems from the tone that WVU does not want to move the series with Michigan State.
